wala lang naisipan ko lang ishare yung experience ko.
short ram intake or SRI upgrades are very rampant nowadays. for about P1500, you could install a set from your nearest car accessory shop. It gives you this "WOOOSH" sound whenever you floor the pedal. If you're thinking of getting this upgrade, you might want to think again. Its cheap but its not for everyone.
I changed my filter last december. It gave me that galit wooshing sound that gave my car a more sporty tone. knowing its a performance part, i thought it free'd up a couple of horses since the engine can ingest more air easier. probably it did, but in my case, it wasnt that useful
air is denser when its colder. since these SRI intakes are basically open, meaning they ingest air straight from the engine bay, they tend to suck in very hot air. hot air = less oxygen molecules to burn. the stock filter on the other hand ingests air from an inlet tube beside the passenger side fender, behind the headlight. with this, its sucking much cooler air as compared to the open type filter. so instead of gaining power, i feel i lost more power hence replacing my stock filter was not a good move.
i changed my filter the other night back to stock. after driving along edsa, i felt that the engine had more grunt. of course the wooshing sporty sound was gone, but the torque was there to back it up.
the positive thing about SRI filters is that it gives you more power in the high rev range. in the low to mid rev ranges, the car felt more powerful with the stock intake. free flowing isnt that wonderful after all
My point here is, if you're thinking that this P1500 aftermarket filter is an amazing upgrade to boost overall power, think again. if youre the type that revs to 7000RPM all the time then yes, it will benefit you. but if youre the type who just wants more grunt from your engine, but doesnt rev as much then i would look somewhere else the stock filter would be better for you.
